Congratulations, Joshua Williams ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿ’ฏ#HeightsProudJoshua WilliamsWestern Heights High School2023 Rotorua Young Achievers Award for Academic, Leadership, Cultural, School and Community serviceDuring his time at Western Heights High School, Joshua has strived to succeed academically and in his co-curricular activities. Joshua has enjoyed his time at Heights and is excited for the new adventures that await him.Academically, Joshua has consistently aimed to put his best foot forward and achieve his goals. This year, Joshua entered a national essay competition to write an analysis on Shakespeare's plays. He managed to place third in the nation. Joshua also has a keen interest in speeches, coming first place in the Rotary speech competition for Rotorua secondary schools. Always eager for an opportunity to showcase his argumentative skills, Joshua is often found in the school's debate club.Joshua has taken several leadership roles within the school, such as prefect, and is a part of the Interact club leadership team. As a prefect, Joshua has started the school study club and hopes it runs for several years. As the Western Heights Interact club banker, Joshua had to manage finances and help run club events.Through these leadership roles, Joshua has been able to help give back to his school and larger community. The Interact club has been able to raise over 6,000 dollars towards the local community and cancer research. His prefect duties have also given opportunities for Joshua to give back to the school community through being a peer support leader and facilitating junior camps.Joshua contributes to many different aspects of Western Heights culture. He joins clubs such as debate and E-Sports. He also participates in the organisation and running of school events like junior fun day and school spirit day.Joshua's future plans are to attend Auckland University and pursue his passion for English and History. ... Congratulations, Paige Elliott ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ ๐Ÿ’– #HeightsProudPaige Elliott Western Heights High School2023 Rotorua Young Achiever for Leadership, Academic, School and Community Service.Paige Elliott is an extremely driven, passionate, and confident young lady who works hard to ensure she can achieve anything she sets her mind to. Paige is known to embrace every opportunity & strive for excellence and has the honour of being a Prefect for Western Heights High School.Paige has a natural passion for leadership and helping others achieve their goals. Within the school, she has taken on as many opportunities as possible, such as Ngongotaha House Captain, Dance Captain, Peer Support Leader and Choreographer for Senior and Elite Teams for the Heights Dance Crews. Her dedication to these roles has made her a well-trusted figure among peers, teachers, and senior staff.Dance has always been a big part of Paige's life; beginning at the age of 11, Paige has dedicated herself to the performing arts, competing at Regional, National and International levels. Since she began high school, Paige has gone on to succeed both by herself and in teams. In year 9 & 10 she won back-to-back Dance NZ Made Regional Solo Champion, as well as making the top 3 placing teams every year at the National Championships. In 2022, Paige qualified for the World Hip Hop Championships in Arizona, where she placed 12th in the Varsity Division. In August this year, Paige returned to the United States to compete at the World of Dance Championships, the most prestigious dance competition across the globe, where she and her crew, 'SPACE PROTEAM' came away with 7th in the world.Alongside her many commitments, Paige does not let her academic results fall short. She received NCEA Level Two with an Excellence Endorsement and is well on track to achieve the same result for Level Three.Giving back to both her school and her community is paramount to Paige as she recognises her success is unviable without the support of her peers. She has volunteered for the school's Breakfast Club, coached dance at local and rural schools, and volunteered & donated to the Ronald McDonald House Charities New Zealand.Next Year.
