Senior Curriculum

We offer a wide range of subjects at Western Heights High School.  Every effort is made to ensure that all students are able to student the subjects they prefer.  We are confident that students are able to find a pathway to training and qualifications for a worthwhile and rewarding career.  Our careers advisors are available to assist with subject choice.

Year 11 Students (NCEA Level 1)

Students in their third year at WHHS must study English, Mathematics, Science and Physical Education and Health.  They may select two further options – usually from the subjects they have enjoyed in Year 9 and 10.   Six subject and multi-level programmes may be provided on a case by case basis.

Year 12 Students(NCEA Level 2)

Mathematics.  Students then choose other option subjects to make up a programme of five NCEA subjects.   Six subject and multi-level programmes may be provided on a case by case basis.

Year 13 Students(NCEA Level 3)

Students in their fifth year will choose five subjects.  Care needs to be taken that the course chosen meets the pre-requisites for future study or training.  The Senior Curriculum booklet provides guidance and the school is committed to ensuring that we are responsive to the needs of students.
